How To Make Paper Chain Garland

During the holiday season, you may be looking for crafts that are easy enough for your child. Why not make a paper chain garland to hang on your wall, door, or railing? This craft is perfect for children of most ages, and when you are finished, you can enjoy a colorful, homemade decoration.

With the following materials and directions, you and your child can easily create your own paper chain garland for the holiday season.

Materials:

Colorful Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue
Ruler

Directions:

1. Use the ruler to measure out the strips for your chain garland. Keep them as straight and close to the same size as possible. Cut out as many as you want for your garland, but it would look better with at least four links.

2. Take one strip and glue the ends together so it makes a round chain link.

3. Place the next strip through the chain link you have just created. Glue the ends together. The two pieces should now be connected, with one through the other.

4. Repeat steps two and three for the rest of your links until your garland starts to resemble a chain.

5. Allow the glue some time to dry.

Making a paper chain garland is a great idea for families, playdates, child care, and school classrooms. You can even hang up the homemade garland for parties or throughout the season.

When you take the time to make a paper chain garland with your child, you can encourage hand-eye coordination, bond with your child, and get into the holiday spirit.
